What's in it for me?
Board membership provides unique opportunities to polish senior
management and strategic skills which may not be available to you
within your own organisation. Board members also benefit from
personal development experiences and training organised to enhance
the effectiveness of the Board.
Reasonable travel expenses and any accommodation costs required
in the delivery of Board duties will be covered - this includes
attendance at Annual Conference. Board members have gone on to
contribute at a more strategic level in their employing
organisations.
What's involved?
Being on the Board requires a commitment to attend 6 Board meetings
a year, planning and development days and annual conference. Board
members are also required to assist, support or lead on initiatives
and projects to assist in the delivery of the Alarm Business Plan,
and this may require additional time either attending meetings and
events or preparing and developing such projects.
Candidates should ensure that they have the necessary permission
from their employer.
What skills are required?
• An understanding of and commitment to what Alarm stands for
- we're a membership organisation that supports risk managers and
risk management across the whole of the public sector.
• A willingness and capacity to work at a strategic level -
this may include business planning, policy development, financial
planning, commercial and product development
• The courage to stand for election
