SESSION 1: AUDITING VLOGGERS 
Emelia Bezant-Gahan, Solicitor at Plexus Law and Adam Clemens at 7BR, will talk on the rising practice of auditing with vloggers and how police interact with them. Emelia and Adam will also touch on the lessons learnt for when the interactions have led to incorrect powers being used. Plexus hope that this could assist in training officers to avoid these claims being brought and saving the forces money in civil actions.

SESSION 2: UNDERSTANDING IT RISKS IN PUBLIC SECTOR

Public Sector, like many, continue to face the ongoing threats of attacks to their IT infrastructure and the data/information contained within it, be that a denial of service attack, a business email compromise or ransomware attack to name a few. Criminal resources far outweigh those of public sector organisations, with a successful attack being low input with a high return potential. The IT risk landscape is ever evolving, with attacks becoming increasingly sophisticated. Whilst organisation’s IT departments battle with keeping up to date with technology to protect their IT environments from attack, there are often times when protection isn’t successful and then technological solutions to detect, react and recover from successful attacks are crucial. IT risks are not just a matter for IT departments, these risks benefit from a joined-up corporate approach. Whilst IT technology plays a huge part in this, it is often ‘us’ as the users that present a significant risk. User education is a critical factor in cyber defences, but to educate users we need to understand the IT risks that are present and we need to move away from the ‘IT’ terminology to support users in developing that understanding.
