ALARM IS CURRENTLY SEEKING NOMINATIONS FOR THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Are you passionate about helping ALARM develop and grow? If so, we are seeking expressions of interest from the ALARM membership for two Director posts up for election this year.
The ALARM Board is legally and ethically responsible for all of our activities, including (but not limited to):
In addition, the Board has ultimate responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the association. Therefore, there are decisions the Board makes, that are crucial to ALARM thriving, including; recruitment and retention of members and sponsors, development and oversight of its offering, and organisational resilience and sustainability.
What are we looking for in a Board Director?
We are looking for enthusiastic team players, willing to work at a strategic level, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will be committed to ALARM's ideals and have a broad knowledge of risk or insurance and have the ability to complete tasks within agreed timeframes.
Experience, or an understanding, of developing business plans, project management, or managing budgets would be of advantage; however, these skills can be developed as part of your role in being a Board Director.

What commitment is required?
Board Directors are all volunteers and as such do not receive any remuneration for their time and commitment, they have to give their own time, or time with the permission of their employers, to carry out their duties and responsibilities. The following is an example of the commitment required:
Activity and minimum time commitment
Attendance and participation at Board and Committee meetings - six days per annum
Preparation for Board and Committee meetings (author reports, digest meeting packs, query information etc.) - four days per annum
Representation at meetings and annual Conference - four days per annum (includes two overnight stays)
Attendance and participation at our annual planning workshop - one day per annum (includes overnight stay)
Development, delivery and monitoring of focus/special interest group action plans (including guidance documents) - four days per annum
Meeting with current and potential sponsors to identify their objectives/requirements and ensure strong relationship management - three days per annum
Approximate minimum time commitment - 22 days per annum
Election process and eligibility
To be eligible to stand for election you must be a voting member of ALARM.
Expressions of interest should be endorsed by two members of ALARM and be submitted by Friday 29 April 2022.
Candidates will be invited to an informal discussion with a panel of Board Directors to discuss their expression of interest and their suitability to the role, prior to their expression being put forward as an election candidate.
