Dunfermline highlights the need for extra vigilance

Wednesday 28 August 2019

Last Sunday’s fire at a school in Dunfermline highlights the need for extra vigilance as we approach the end of the summer holidays and start the new school year. The run up to the new school year and early in the term are the most likely time for an arson attack therefore need to be mindful of the possibility of such an event. Key warning signs include an increase in vandalism or malicious damage and maintaining good security around the school is of paramount importance, to help avoid any incidents.

In addition if there is any work still being carried out at the school, as deadlines approach it is important that we keep the risks brought about by hot works in mind, especially as the need for completion ahead of the school term beginning, becomes more urgent. Ongoing supervision of contractors on site is of particular importance in this area.
