Webinar Wednesday – Children’s services and unsecured placements

Wednesday 2 February 2022

September 2021 saw a change in the law around how looked after child placements and the associated statutory provisions are to be dealt with. Enacted on 9 September 2021, the Care Planning, Placement and Case Review Regulations 2021 provided councils with a six-month period to sort out existing unregulated placements, which were made unlawful by the new provisions. This means councils only have until 8 March 2022 to make sure all placements are lawful and in line with the new provisions.

Andrew Caplan and Kate Prestidge from Plexus Law will explain the changes and their impact on councils and Ashley Easen from Gallagher Bassett and Phil Farrar from RMP will address the associated risk and insurance issues to help you navigate these changes.

Andrew Caplan (andrew.caplan@plexuslaw.co.uk) and Kate Prestidge (kate.prestidge@plexuslaw.com) are Partners at Plexus Law and together they head Plexus’ Abuse Team.

Ashley Easen (ashley.easen@gbtpa.com) is Director - Risk Consulting at Gallagher Bassett.

Phil Farrar (philip.farrar@rmpartners.co.uk) is National Development Director at Risk Management Partners.
